“Looking to put this freezer in our garage and we live in NJ. It gets cold here during the winter, will that affect the ability to freeze? I know some freezers don’t freeze in the winter because of the cold temps.”

The user guide (found as a pdf file above) says the freezer can operate in a room with temps between +5 deg F and 109 deg F.
