I didn't have that problem. I did see the bottom is not level. So maybe try to level the freezer. That's all I noticed.

My thought is that there is a vacuum being created when you close the door. I wonder if it has anything to do with how long the door is kept open. I hope this helps. I have had mine for a month. I am very pleased with it.
