• I thought the same thing, but it's just to show size and clearance of different items inside the freezer. More for a visual representation than anything else

• This unit is convertible. Control on front door selects freezer or refrigerator

• In my experience its because the actual operating temperature range is 30 degree warmer than what's listed in the manual. Neither BB nor Insignia will fix it even though its only been 16 days since the "freezer' was delivered.
