It will depend on the positioning of the light strip and your proximity to its installation. The more 'exposed' the strip - the more it will "light" an area. It is primarily intended as an accent, but it could easily be applied in a manner to provide sufficient light for reading. That said, there are FAR more optimal lighting mechanisms for reading, and I would seek one of those conventions as opposed to a tape-light.

Please try again later.Understand you likely aren't still looking for an answer, but for others who may ask, I just set this up behind my headboard on my bed as a reading light and it works very well. I use a warm orange light so it doesn't keep me up as much. You'll need to play with the settings, it also helps that mine is reflecting off the white wall behind it. I don't have details on exact lumens however.
