“The tv brackets just fit my LG 55”. I have no flexibility to adjust TV up/down. Are there universal or extendable brackets available or… is screwing in only the top 2 screws too risky?”

Definitely there are extendable brackets mine specifically moves up and down and side to side it's really really a good product.
