Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your Mac Book Air has a port where you can plug in the standard RCA cable, yes, it would be compatible. Go to your local Best Buy store and check out the variety of headsets available. You can spend $200 for a SONY to $30 to $50 for the Insignia brand. Both provide excellent quality and outside sound deadening. Both accept the RCA 3.5mm cable. The headset that is the subject of this review does not cover the ears completely. Although the quality is very good, you might want the complete over-the-ear head set. I have both types and even at the lower prices, the outside sound deadening and comfort of the complete over-the-ear feature would drive me to buy larger headset. My SONY headset ss AK8WHCH 700N. I have three INSIGNIA head sets (small pads not covering entire ear) NS-PAH5205 (also $20). I use these each night to listed to my TV. And my third set connects me to the TV, needs charging at 6-10 hours of use. Excellent sound deadening. Insignia Bluetooth Over-The-Ear headphones NS-CAHBTOE01 $40-$50. Make sure you Mac Book Air has the RCA 3.5 mm port.
