The welcome feature of this unit is that it will accept both "old" and "new" from your TV. Now there is some chance that your TV was never meant to send the sound anywhere else. But most allowed for external speakers. That is all you need. Take a good look at the back of the TV and look for something like "audio out" or "external speakers". If it looks like a little donut about 3/8 of an inch across, that is called an "RCA jack". You should find the connecting cables needed included with this unit.

If you want to use the Digital Optical Audio Output you need to purchase a Digital Optical cable (not included). David M. - Insignia Support
