“Is the clock display physically capable of displaying 24-hour time format instead of am/pm, if the software (Google's?) ever supports that capability? I'm ready to put black tape over the time display rather than have "PM 7:09" colon-blinking at me.”

Not sure about the 24-hour time format, but for now, just say, "OK, Google, turn off the display."
