I have the larger Insignia Portable speaker but this should work for your smaller speaker.
You need the latest firmware... it's ver. 306. It fixed quite a few bugs. 
The way I understand it, you do a reset and it updates to version 306 during the new setup. Resetting also solved my volume up and down problem.
