Are you having overheating issues with your 9400f? And how much RAM are you running? What type of performance gain are you looking for? Your PC specs (RAM speed and capacity, motherboard model/ chipset, GPU, PC case model) as well as what you use your PC for would help. If your 9400f is not having overheating issues I don't see the point in upgrading. The 9600k is faster but for the price to performance increase you might be better off upgrading your RAM or GPU, especially for gaming. GPU will perform the bulk of your processing for games along with your RAM. If your current CPU is overheating look into re-applying your thermal paste and cleaning any dust out of your pc and heat sinks and make sure your fans are set up to pull cool air in from the front of your case and exhaust (push) hot air out of the back and top of your case.

And for even better performance without compromise check out the Intel Core I9-9900K which not only gives you more cores but added hyperthreading as well and can be found on Best Buy's website here https://www.bestbuy.com/site/intel-core-i9-9900k-9th-generation-8-core-16-thread-3-6-ghz-5-0-ghz-turbo-socket-lga-1151-unlocked-desktop-processor/6302019.p?skuId=6302019 Thank you for choosing Intel.
