• There is no yearly fee to use this version. You pay the product price one time and you will be able to use it as long as you want. However, QuickBooks will only support a QB Desktop version for 3 years. After that, you can still use it, but there will be no more product updates, and your QB Payroll program will no longer work with a QB Desktop that becomes more than 3 years old. That's how they get you to buy the new Desktop version every 3 years.

• The first person answered the question and said there is no yearly fee but it is only supported for 3 years and then it will no longer work with their payroll option and you will then have to buy another subscription or not use their payroll. So NO you DON’T have to pay yearly and if you DON’T want their payroll option you are fine even after 3 years
