“The app shows a red 1 next to R icon. I can’t find a message or where to look”

I went into "history" and that's where I saw my red icon. If you touch the icon it will take you to the "map" of your room where it encountered the error. Mine just so happened to be a block path so it stopped working. I pressed on the "path blocked" notice and it took me to different reasons why it happened.
