I used mine on two different floors. No issues. Found it's way home when I moved it to the 2nd floor. And it detected the stairs. e5 runs on a random pattern anyway,

Ellie, yes you can move the home base to different levels of your house.

I just pick up the roomba and bring it to other floors and turn it on. It can’t go back to the docking station, but that’s ok. It keeps cleaning until I stop it or it runs out of power. Then I return it to the docking station. It works beautifully and I’m happy owning one roomba for my multi floor home.
