• Yes it does. The power cable powers the bluetooth receiver. It is a wireless connection for the phone

• Yes it does have to be connected at all times, I gives power to the Bluetooth adapter. But it can easily be hidden, my car doesn’t have discrete power plug but I never notice it, and my passengers don’t either until I tell them. You phone doesn’t have to be plugged into it, it’s a Bluetooth connection for your phone. Hope this helped in some way, have a great day!
