It actually works well, the only time there is any ground noise that I have noticed is if I have the unit on after taking a call with nothing coming through the radio. The unit will disconnect then you get the noise. Other than that it is crystal clear

Yes, but in my experience it only happens when no audio is being transmitted by the mobile phone. As soon as audio from a phone connection, playing music, etc. starts the noise goes away (and it's not just masked by the foreground audio.)

If it does not have a signal you will hear the engine whine sound but once your phone connects it will be dead quiet and silent, it is very good once connected.

Unless you have a grounding issue at your cigarette lighter or a battery in need of replacing, you will not have any sort of noise issues.
