“I am using this with my new MacBook Air and it was purchased to help with Djing. This docking station just simply does not work. When I added my external drive to it, it states it is full. But when I unplug it from the docking station and it works.”

Not surprising because Apple usually doesn’t play well with non Apple devices. You can check the compatibility on the docking station website but I think you have to get an Apple hub to work with Apple devices.
