“I understand these are good for reducing wind noise during phone calls do they also reduce traffic noise I make a lot of calls while walking around NYC, and the traffic noise canbe an issue for those at the other end f the call without the noise reduction”

In my experience they do not do a great job of drowning out background noise.

Each ear bud also contains two microphones. These microphones work together to reduce background noise so that your voice is heard clearly.
