Yes and no, absolutely they are not intended as a hearing aid for those that are in real need, but I have noticed that the voice thru function does allow me to hear people amplified and more clear then normal.

However, when they are on "HearThrough" mode they do amplify the sound that is picked up by the noise cancelation mic on each earbud. I find that I do hear better with that feature than I do with my normal hearing. I have used them when I have a little trouble hearing the TV conversations over outside noise and they do help. But I have never worn hearing aids so I do not have a good comparison.
