Even though you may not be using it to play music, if you don't cut it off completely the battery is still being used. If you cut it on when you want to use it and then cut it off when you're done, the battery will last for days on one charge.

The JBL Charge 3 has 5 indicator lights for remaining battery life. Which means it could handle at least 20 hours of life when life on, without music playing. Because, this device is advertised as having 15 hours of continuous run time, it makes perfect sense that it could last for 20 hours on stand by. When left in the complete off mode, my Charge 3 has lasted over a month without losing two fifth of its battery.
