Yes, The JBL Flip is water proof. Snorkeling the river and found one at the bottom of a 16 foot pool, must have been in the water a couple weeks. Let it dry out and it still worked. Didn't sound great, but still produced music. We purchased one and my teenage son listens to it in the shower. Sounds just as good as the day we bought it. I bought one for myself and use it while ridding horses out in sand and dirt. Occasionally I wipe it down, charges and plays great.

I doubt it's water proof however I use this around hot tub and in bathroom during showers so it has gotten wet without issues I would not submerge in water however. Water resistant.
