A better answer is, "The ANC function ONLY works when using the wireless Bluetooth connection. Engineers are assuming their customers won't need the ANC function when plugging into 3.5mm. In fact, the industry as a whole is doing its absolute best to discourage wired connectivity, even though it's safer for the brain; pushing everyone into 100% wireless world for easier eaves-dropping without them knowing."
