Hi concerned2022, Proposition 65 was enacted in 1986 in the State of California. It requires an updated list once a year of potentially harmful materials. Whirlpool/KitchenAid meets or exceeds all standards for safe materials, but our products do have cords, which causes them to make the list. Any time you have a cord, there is the potential for it to come in contact with something hazardous.
