“Is this supposed to toast evenly? Our's doesn't. The top burners glow brighter than the bottom while toasting leading to very uneven toasting (middle rack). Just wondering if this was expected or a defect?”

Mine does the same thing. I generally turn the toast (or whatever) midway. The very expensive toaster over we had before this one did the same thing.
