Dear Leedalou, The crumb tray keeps crumbs off the heating elements and does not affect any of the settings used.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.crumb tray goes below the heating element and the crumbs seem to be deflected by the cover on heating elements. You possibly could put the crumb tray above the heating elements and with convection fan would likely still cook ok except for toasting.
