“I am looking for a lap desk for my 80 year old friend to hold on his lap in his elevated recliner chair. He will not be using it for his lap top. He will use it for paying his bills and sometimes using it for coffee and pastry. Is this the right one?”

I wouldn't use it for coffee and pastries for an 80 year old. It's fine for paying bills. For food, you might consider something with legs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I wouldn't recommend it for that. it has a textured surface so writing on it would be bumpy. it's also pretty lightweight, so a coffee cup on one side might cause it to tip over.

Please try again later.It would work very well, but keep in mind that any arm rests may get in the way of this product, or if you're lucky, it will sit nicely on the arms if it's wide enough and the arms are close enough together. Otherwise, it's very comfortable on your lap. I don't think the mousepad will get in the way too much.
