• Yes you can just use the buttons on the bottom of the monitor to switch inputs

• Yes, you should be able to hot swap from one signal to the monitor to the other, with an A-B switch type of configuration.

• While I suppose there would be no reason why you could not plug in both the HDMI and VGA inputs at the same time (the inputs are positioned so that both could be used), there is no way I am aware of that you could switch between the two inputs "on the fly". It seems to be set up to default to whichever input is used, so I do not know how the monitor would even handle it if both were plugged in. By the way, the performance of the monitor using the HDMI input is great.
