I can try to answer the dimming portion of your question. It dims quite a bit. I typically have mine set to level 1, which is the dimmest and I think for nighttime visibility it is perfect; not so bright it keeps you awake. For me personally, the level 10 would be way too bright for trying to sleep, however it would be perfect if you are looking for it to double as a nightlight (rather than having the actual nightlight feature on) or if you just need that extra oomph to see it. My apologies, the pictures of the dimmest setting (level 1) and the brightest setting (level 10) do not do justice in just how much difference there is between the two.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can manually adjust the display brightness from approximately 4 Percent brightness to 100 Percent. There are several choices for the display screen, some only show the time. Here is a link to a YouTube video that demonstrates the manual screen brightness control as well as the other features and functions of the Lenovo Smart Clock 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06nAJwQ7OKk&t=1s.
