“Can this unit be placed on a countertop versus being installed over a range?”

• no. It hangs from the shelf above it. there is no finish on the top.

• The LG 2.0 cu. ft. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven with EasyClean®, Model # LMV2031ST is not UL approved to be used as a Countertop microwave. It also has a Countertop/Cooktop Light underneath and grease filters so it is not flat underneath. If the vent fan or surface lights are inadvertently turned on, you could have heat issues...^IFV
