“we just installed our new microwave a month ago and yesterday during use it just shut down and nothing worked. After 20 minutes it beeped and the clock was on again and it now works again. Could there be a reason for the shutdown or is it defective?”

I can't urge you enough. Return before one year warranty is up. I had similar problem within two months of receipt and now it won't work at all. The display seemed faded and then completely blank.
