That will depend on the degree of your hearing loss. You will need to go to an audiologist for a hearing test. The audiologist will determine if your hearing loss is mild or more severe. The degree of hearing loss is based on how loud sounds need to be for you to hear them. If you can only hear sounds when they are at 30 dB, you have a mild hearing loss. You have a moderate hearing loss if sounds are closer to 50 dB before you hear them. You can always adjust the volume on the LG 2.1-Channel 300W Soundbar System with 6" Subwoofer, Model # SL4Y so it is audible even if you hard of hearing, but as you are aware from your own experiences, the perception of how loud something is decreases with increasing distance. How far you will be sitting from the Soundbar will factor into how much you need to turn up the volume for the Soundbar to hear it depending on your degree of hearing loss without have it too loud to disturb your neighbors...^IFV
