Your TV has to have an optical port or support bluetooth. It does not have to be a LG device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The soundbar can be connected to any Bluetooth device. You may connect it to a non-LG television system so long as your device provides for an optical cable output: check your device's owner's manual if you're not sure. Unfortunately, this soundbar does not seem to provide for direct RCA or stripped wire connection. We use it with a laptop for streaming movies, works just fine, though we disconnected the subwoofer because dialog was difficult to hear with it on, and it bothered our neighbors.

If it supports Bluetooth, it can be paired with the LG SL4Y 2.1 Channel 300W Sound Bar w/ Bluetooth Streaming for a wireless Bluetooth connection. If it doesn't support Bluetooth, you can still connect the TV to the Soundbar via the Optical Digital Audio Input on the Soundbar if the TV has an Optical Digital Audio Out. That is the most common way for connecting Soundbars, external receivers or Home Theater Systems to a Soundbar. Most TVs, with the exception of entry-level models should have an Optical Digital Audio Out...^IFV
