“After I connect via optical cable with my 55-inch LG 4K HDR webOS tv, I set my tv to "external speakers" (rather than the usual internal speaker), nothing happens. I would like to know what I am doing wrong. Is there a setting I'm missing? Can you help?”

Click on the little gear on the remote to go into settings. Settings will be lined up from top to bottom of screen on left side. Go down to the 3rd icon which is a speaker and select. The icon will expand with arrows pointing left and right. This is sound out. Click on the LEFT arrow until OPTICAL comes up in the little pill icon. Your TV is now set for sound out via optical. Turn on the sound bar and navigate to OPT and you should hear TV through the sound bar now. Hope this helped!
