“I have an existing hood over our range, that this would replace . The current vent tube is round, and the hole in the ceiling that the vent goes into is also round. Can this model be used with a round vent? Or does it need a square vent tube and hole?”

It can be adapted from a square/rectangular opening in the unit, to a round conduit/pipe vent if there is room
