If it's connected via Display Port and is suitably supported in the OS, then you could just change the sound output in Windows / Linux / etc. Some HDMI ports also support sound and again, changed in the operating system settings. If it's connected through DVI or VGA (unlikely) then that cable doesn't support sound. For Windows 10, one could select the speaker icon in the bottom right, then select the playback device if the monitor speakers are recognized.
