“since this is a free sync monitor is there a way for me to turn off the free sync feature or will it turn off automatically since i use a Nvidia GTX card? sorry first time buying a gaming monitor”

Yes, from the setting menu you an turn Free Sync function on/off. Press the joystick button on the bottom of the monitor. Move the joystick up/down (▲/▼) and left/right(◄/►) to set the options.
