You don’t need to be on the same WiFi network. You can do it from the other side of the world if you’d like. The only problem is I have yet to be able to get both ovens to register remote start at the same time. It’s either just top, or just bottom. It hasn’t been a problem and probably won’t, but I’m sure at least once in its lifetime I’ll need to remote start top and bottom. It’s gets to temp within minutes anyways, it’s not that big of a deal. What I usually do is put a semi thawed item in the bottom oven with the probe before I head to work, then start the cooking process while I’m at work and it’s ready when I get home. It’s the coolest feature ever.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You sync your phone with it at home. The oven will always be using your home WiFi obvi but then you can remote start it from wherever you are if you have WiFi. We were out to eat the other night and got notices that the oven was at temp and then again when timer went off because our teenager was baking something.

Please try again later. To use the Remote Start feature on the LG 30" Built-In Double Electric Convection Wall Oven, Model # LWD3063ST, you will need to register the appliance on your home Wi-Fi network. If the appliance is not registered on the network, “unavailable" appears in the display. To communicate with the appliance using your smartphone, you will need to download and install the LG SmartThinQ application from either the Google Play Store or Apple Store depending on what type of phone you have. This appliance supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only. Both the smartp[hone and the appliance have to be connected to the same home Wi-Fi network. Remote Start is never set up in the smartphone. It is set up by opening then closing the oven door and pressing Remote Start on the oven within 30 seconds of closing the door after making sure that the oven is empty and ready for pre-heating. When "Remote Start Ready" appears in the display, the Remote Start function will be ready to use. You can then follow the directions on your smartphone to set the cook mode, temperature, and run time (pre-heating time plus holding time)...^IFV
