“Are the USB ports in the back of the monitor powered? I tried to connect a USB light but it doesn't turn on”

• yes they are. I am looking at a LED light right now that I have plugged in and it burns brightly. Check the voltage and amperage of your light, though, maybe it needs more than the port provides (5V, 0.9A)

• No they are not powered actively, just by the USB port on your machine.
