Hi the apps are ok on smart tvs but i tend to use an Amazon Firetv/ stick or Roku or AppleTV since the OS are much better. You can setup your cable remote to fully control the tv including volume. I have ATT Uverse. The apps on the LG UltraHD are very good but again I use the other Apps through connected devices using one of the USB ports.

We regret to read about the issues that you are experiencing with the LG 4K UHD HDR Smart LED TV - 43" Class (42.5" Diag), Model # 43UJ6300. We are not clear when you say you "can't the apps up", however, on your remote is an icon of a house than when pressed, will launch the LG Content Store (App Store). To start watching VOD (Video on Demand) immediately, you can select your desired category from the categories shown at the top of the screen, such as TV Shows and Movies. The list of available content in the selected category will be shown. After you select an item from the list, you can play your desired content. Some apps may be required to play the content. If the app is not installed, you will need to install it to play the content. The LG Content Store feature allows you to quickly and conveniently browse for TV Shows, Movies, and more to watch immediately. You can also download and use apps from various categories such as education, entertainment, lifestyle, news, and games. The main screen of the LG Content Store shows the most popular content for each category. Select any content to view its details. You also need to have your TV connected to the internet. As for the blurry picture, that will need some troubleshooting but you will also need to make sure that you have the right cables, and the right cable box and that it is set up properly to give you the correct resolution for a clear picture. Your cable service provider should be able to assist you with anything that has to do with the cable the set-top box. When you are connected to your cable set-top box, the channels are coming from the box and so you will need to use the cable set-top box to change channels. If you want to control the TV's volume, you need to make sure that the cable box remote is a universal remote that you can set up to control both the cable set-top box and the TV. Some cable service providers have a designated channel on the box that you can access to identify what type of remote you have and how to set it up to control the TV. Again, you may need to contact your cable service provider for assistance with this. Currently, it appears that you are not set up properly which is why you are only able to control the TV's volume with the TV remote and have to use the cable remote to change channels. If you need further assistance, please contact our Support Center at (800) 243-0000...^IFV
