“When I mirror from my iPad to my TV via the built in AirPlay2, black bars appear on each side of the TV. I cannot fill the space by changing the aspect ratio because it is greyed out, unlike HDMI input which works. Will there be any updates to fix this?”

The only way to get the black bars to disappear without being wired is to turn your Ipad horizontal. This is a common problem with all smart tv's because it is mirroring DIRECTLY what is on the phone or tablet, so you won't be able to change the aspect ratio.
