The magic remote is like having a computer mouse in your hand. You will see a magenta looking cursor on the tv when you move the remote control around in your hand. Then you can just click it to the part of the screen you are interested in.

It brings up menus and functions on the screen, and you move your pointer to that function and make your choices and hit the "enter" button and you are finished. It is fairly simple because I am a "computer challenged" person, and I can understand this pretty well in the brief time I have had the TV. Don't worry about the orange pointer, it will go away after a very brief time and will not appear until "tools" is pressed again.

You aim and click what you want rather then using the directional arrows. You still have the option to use the directional pad if you choose to do so. I personally love the pointer motion control!
