• no. however to get the best out of a DVD a 4K player that will up convert the image would be better, as would new 4K discs as you buy more in the future..

• You would want a 4K player to get the full effect, PlayStation 4 and Xbox one and Xbox one X both play 4K as well.

• I'm not an expert, but if it has HDMI, digital and/or optical ports, (which I believe your DVD player does) it will work. So, no I don't believe you'll need a new player.

• No, blu-ray plays fine. The upscaling on the LG is very good. Of course if you want to move up to 4K content, you'll have to get a new Ultra HD player. They're not expensive, but buying all new videos is.
