“Is there a way to improve the blacks (dark scenes) on this TV? I am watching a tv series that happens mostly at night and the image is super dark (compared to my other samsung tv of about the same size) if I try to make it lighter, the blacks become gray.”

Make sure the energy saving mode is off. That was the issue I was having with my picture being so dark. After turned the option off I noticed the picture quality became brighter and crispy.
