“What does it mean when its says "activate now" and "activate later"”

You can activate the phone when you purchase it (which saves you BIG money @ Best Buy, or you can purchase and activate it at a later time (for instance when you get home , a few days later, a week later, etc.). I would recommend activating upon purchase to save money unless you have a reason not to.
