“Stream Netflix? I was told by the sales person that this device can stream Netflix when hooked up with my Genie from DirecTV . Before I open it, I want to make sure that is a true statement. Thank you”

Don't know what a Genie is but the first thing you MUST do is have the RE6500 connect with your wireless router. Once that is done and you confirm it is working (use any wireless device like your phone), then you can try it with your DirectTV. The extender has 4 gig ports so as long as this Genie is an ethernet device, you should be able to use it and stream Netflix.

If you can already view Netflix, then you should also be able to view Netflix with your range extender, IF your range extender is getting a usable signal from the main router.
