“Hi I have bad cell service in the house can I set this up by using my laptop with a ethernet cable in the parent (main) node instead of the app? ( after i connect the parent node/main node to the modem)”

Once you download the app it all is working via Bluetooth and connecting to each nodes Wi-Fi signal. Does not need cell service. Just find a good spot to get the app first.
