“Theoretically if a device isn't compatible would it still be able to connect to a 5ghz band and get reasonable speeds? I have the Asus rapture 11000 router and want to make sure I'm not downgrading the connection to some of my devices.”

• Mostly, yes. The advantage of the 6 GHz over the 5 is, there are fewer devices that use the new frequency. You would see a slight gain otherwise from using higher frequence, but not that much. If you live in a crowded place with lots of WiFi around you, you will see more benefit. If you live in the middle of nowhere with nothing but cows for hundreds of miles, you won't notice a difference.

• Yes, Astral. If the device is not compatible with 6GHz, then it can connect to either 5GHz or 2.4GHz band. It should get speeds that the router can provide and up to how much the device supports.
