Not just "a" router, it's a system of routers :) And yes, a router is different from a modem, which is NOT included in the Velop system. A modem is basically where your internet will "come from" and the router allows multiple devices to access it. Velop is NOT a modem. But don't let the "system of routers" scare you. It is insanely easy to set up!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Velop is a wi-fi router. It is NOT a (cable) modem. You would still need a modem (if your ISP requires one) and then connect one Velop to the modem via Ethernet cable. After that, the rest of your Velops would connect to each other via wi-fi.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will still need a modem or network interface but you do not need a separate router. Your Verizon unit probably has built in wireless so you would shut off that function and use the velop to feed the wireless network. I believe it is set up as a network access point and not as a router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The first Velop plugs into your router then links to additional Velop units. You will need a router. I would also turn off the Verizon WiFi in their router to avoid confusion.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need just a modem. Make sure it is one approved by Verizon. You can just link the Velop to the modem via an Ethernet cable. That's what I did with my ISP. I checked with them to find out what modem they accepted and went out and bought it. I then hooked up the Velop with no problem.
