Hi, Robert. If you have a gateway (modem-router combo), you can either set the Velop system to bridge mode (same network) or cascade it to your device as a separate network.

Please try again later.I'm not familiar with Windstream specifically, but prior to purchasing my Velop, I, like you, I was using a combination modem/router from my ISP (ATT Uverse). I connected my Linksys to it via an ethernet port and set it up as a second system. I then, however, accessed my modem/router and turned its WiFi radios OFF so that I only had the 1 WiFi network (the Linksys) instead of 2. This has worked very well for me and it's very efficient. I don't know of a reason why you couldn't do the same.
