• The age of the computer itself isn't a limiting factor, as long as it has an available USB connection. The operating system will determine compatibility, and I have used this webcam with Linux Mint 18.x and MS Windows 7 successfully. Windows will have to fetch drivers with Windows Updates, and it plugged and played in Linux.

• Yes. I used it on a laptop I got in 2010 and it worked up until this year.
