Logitech has better priced equipment with the same (if not more) features than razer products. I don't mean to really dig at razer here, but they really are hype-priced. They do not offer as much support or functionality in their products that Logitech does. It's not to say their equipment isn't good at all, but it really is not worth the cost associated with the name. It's kind of like choosing Levi's or Wrangler, Levi's cost more just because of their name, even though both are of identical quality. The Orion keyboard, as the model number suggests, 910 is one of the top tier, which means it has many more customization options than the others (500 series, 700 etc.) If he is a serious gamer, then I would suggest top tier for a few reasons: Maintenance is simpler More control More Customization Options Great support If he doesn't play often, 700 series is plenty good enough. It won't have the same type of back-lighting etc, but they are not to be marked as "bad" they just have less features, built on the same concept as top tier. I use the 910 for programming, gaming, and web development. I had to upgrade from the 700 series because I needed to be able to customize the lighting on the keys for dark-room typing ease. I know this advice is a bit late, but hopefully this helps you or someone else.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Check out reviews on Newegg.com for various reviews regarding quality. That is probably where you'll find the most honest reviews on products. Logitech has a good track history of having quality products that last a long time. Razer products over the past couple of years have declined in quality and is a big complaint amongst fans of the brand (i.e. mice stop functioning, etc). Corsair has a good reputation for putting out good hardware, but it's peripherals have had some questionable reviews in the past regarding quality issues. Those I've talked to have no complaints about their keyboards though and they are becoming increasingly popular among gamers and enthusiasts. Your mileage may vary. I currently own this keyboard (Orion Spark G910) and I have had no functional issues. I realize this answer probably reached you MUCH too late but it's good to know for future reference, as well as for anyone that might have the same question.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I shopped for several months for mechanical keyboards. Corsair makes some of the best but Logitech is not far behind. I have had the G910 for a few months now and it is absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The best part about a mechanical keyboard really isn't about features as it is about the typing experience and the quality of the keyboard. A standard rubber dome Dell keyboard you type on at work is a fine mass manufactured product (like a Uniball pen), but the mechanical keyboard are made with precision switches and usually a much higher build quality (like a high end fountain pen). There is a huge difference in the typing feel because of the switches, too. The different types of switches provide a large variety of different feels... especially, with the companies that made their own switches like Logitech and their G910 Orion Spark having 25% less travel than normal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The G910 is perfect, not only does it perform great, but you can set each key with a different color or or make them all the same, you can even have specific rows of colors, the choice is all yours.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can almost guarantee this is the best choice, it has so many programmable keys, also change the color of the keys to your liking.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You really can't go wrong with this model. I've had one other gaming mechanical keyboard other than the G910. The G910 has a shorter travel to the keys, the keys have all kinds of lighting options that the other didn't have, and there are four banks of nine macro "G" keys for mapping for whatever he would like. I think you would be hard pressed to find a nicer keyboard.
